Mumbai: Authorities of the renowned Sai Baba temple in Shirdi have decided to revise the visiting hours for devotees due to the rising coronavirus cases in the state and the night curfew that has been imposed by the Maharashtra government.
The Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST), Shirdi, in a statement said that the temple doors will now be thrown open for devotees at 7:15 am and will close at 7:45 pm. Earlier, the timings had been fixed at 6 am to 9 pm, but due to it clashing with the curfew, the duration has been reduced.
Besides, the Shri Sai Prasadalaya, where devotees are provided with free food, will now operate from 10 am to 7:30 pm.

'The Kakad aarti (first aarti of the day) which is performed at 4:30 am and the final aarti of the day at 10:30 pm will take place as per the same timings. However, devotees won't be allowed to be inside the temple premises during that time,' the statement read.

Urging everyone to cooperate with the temple authorities, the trust said the measures have been taken only for the benefit of the people.
The Shirdi temple was opened for all on November 14, 2020, in adherence with the state's COVID guidelines for religious places, and since then, it has been witnessing hundreds of people travelling to the shrine every day.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Monday reported 31,643 new cases of coronavirus, a day after recording the highest one-day spike of over 40,000 fresh cases. At present, there are 3,36,584 active COVID-19 cases.
